Never Too Early to Start Thinking About The Masters

It’s never too early to start thinking about The Masters. Never. Here is an amazing clip to get you in the Masters mood. During the practice round each year it is tradition for players to try and skip their ball across the pond at the par 3 16th. Apparently, those who don’t try get harassed a little. Here is Vijay Singh’s attempt at skipping his ball across the pond….amazing. I can’t remember if this is from last year or 2008…either way, it’s great.

Yowzas!! skipping a rock is hard enough! i feel like golf people should market cool stuff like this…then maybe more people would watch golf.

I don’t have anything more than a very, very passing interest in golf, but that was totally fucking awesome. Damn.

@MorganRose – I completely agree with that, especially now with Tiger down and out. The PGA is going to need to come up with a great marketing campaign that doesn’t involve Tiger…which is a lot easier said than done.

@Dave L – remember when you chipped in (well, not even a chip…that was from like 75 yards) at Middlebury the first time we ever played golf together? That was pretty much just as awesome as this.

maybe they could invent ultimate golf…that’s all cool tricks. And probably forcing players to wear those cool argyle/plaid/pom outfits they used to wear would be a step in the right direction!

    I’ll write a letter.

What’s funny about that time I chipped in is that I don’t think I had golfed enough to realize how rare that is. My biggest memory of that moment was how happy YOU were about it, not me – I think that’s probably how I first figured out you were a pretty good dude.

@Dave L – I definitely was excited for you! And I certainly knew how rare it is. Awesome all-around.

dave i’m with you…my first time ever playing a game of golf, my dad explained how to chip the ball (“hit it like this so it’ll pop up into the air and onto the green”), handed me a club and walked away…I chipped it, thought to myself, “sweet! i hit it and it popped up into the air!” and walked away to where my dad and sister were. When we came back for me to finish the hole, we realized I had chipped it in…and none of us saw :)
